Smash Project: The Biggest Concert Team Up This Side of Town!!!
All the emo kids and broken hearted people of the early 2000s will finally rejoice for the biggest and the baddest concert of the year: Smash Project featuring the Used, Dashboard Confessional, Cobra Starship and the Cab!!!
I believe this is the most star studded band line up since 1996's Alternative Nation Tour in Manila featuring Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters and Beastie Boys.
Dashboard Confessional |
And to gear up my emotions, I missed the last Dashboard Confessional concert for 10 minutes, yes 10 freaking minutes because of EDSA Traffic!!! I was able to watch Cobra Starship at Alabang Town Center when they were still promoting their debut album, pretty rad! So this will be the first time I will be able to see the Cab and the Used. And I am very excited to see the Used!
The Used |
It will be a time space warp to 2001-2003 for me to listen again to the music of the Used and also their contemporaries Dashboard Confessional. The Used singles "Blue and Yellow," "The Taste of Ink" and "Buried Myself Alive" were the anthems of my emo college life. Bert McCracken's appearances in the Osbournes series also made me a fan. (He was Kelly Osbourne's BF). The Used emerging on that era was very timely and they were able to gather fans because of their heartfelt "emoness", if there was a term. Their previous album offerings became more experimental for the band. But the glorified days of emo will definitely have The Used as one of its purveyors.
Dashboard Confessional = Screaming Infidelities. The song that struck my lonely heart then. (hahaha) But there was redemption and I got "Vindicated." Hopefully, it will be really a vindication to watch and meet them on March 8. And like what Bart Simpson (NOT Bert McCracken) said: "Ay, caramba!" See you soon Chris Carrabba!!!
The Cab |
It will be my first time to hear and watch The Cab live and I think they are a very promising band based from what I saw on their videos.
Cobra Starship |
And of course, Cobra Starship will make us all very bad and they will surely bring the house down with their pop dance rock!!! I hope they bring Leighton Meester here!!! hehe
Adding more emotional pain before the trauma are local greats Urban Dub, Typecast, Chicosci and Slapshock!!! What a treat!!!
So I expect this concert as most emotional concert ever in the local land! (all crying and screaming fans - girls and boys, me included haha). Enjoy the show!!!
