CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH THE SUPER STAR DJs: THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS!!!

Image
(the article below is my musical journey to the music of the Chemical Brothers. This article also lead me to meet them! Enjoy!) I am excited to see, hear and feel The Chemical Brothers because they are (and still) a big part of my life. Never thought an adolescent who loved new wave and rock music would be converted and fell in love with electronica/ big beat music since dancing to Herbie Hancock's “Rockit” when I was 4. I was immediately hooked when I first heard “Rock Blocking Beats” on the radio way back 1997, the year that rock music almost died because of the eletronica invasion. The song has guitar and rock beat elements and was danceable. I told myself this genre will hit big! I immediately bought a “Dig Your Own Hole” cassette tape the week it was released from the local record bar. And Bang! Rockstars (Noel Gallegher) and Djs do work! The sound of the Lips was on those two albums was like Neil Young singing on Sonic Youth's music but on a happy note! Their single “Bad Days” from Cloud Taste Metallic released 1995 was a catchy tune that I always sang when of course when I am on a bad day to convert it into a good one! Transmissions from the Satellite Heart . Then while watching on a free UHF channel named SBN 21 early 1995, I was able to watch a re-run of a David Letterman show featuring The Flaming Lips singing ...

Since JaeDee removed her article from her blog, most likely because NU107 Execs want her lips sealed, I will repost her article for the viewing public... News Goose’s Final Report: NU107 is Closing Down! October 24, 2010 by  adventuresofabeautyqueen 7 Votes jaeDee the NewsGoose of NU107 from the 90's to the early 2000'sUPDATE: UPDATE:  NU Closing Down on Nov. 7? Good morning guys! This is jaeDee the NewsGoose with some shocking news for rock fans in Metro Manila… The one and only rock station in town – NU107, The Home of NU Rock – will soon be the Home of NO ROCK! That’s right, I’ve received information from three reliable sources, all part of NU107′s inner circle, that the radio station will finally say goodbye to it’s rock image and shift to a ‘masa’ pop sound under new management. The reason for the image change was reportedly a financial decision on the owners’ part. The transformation won’t be overnight though. According to one of my sources, starting this Novemb...
